Conditioning folks to fear is a symptom of entitlement. My former Psych professor, was a perfect example. All he wanted to do was tell his students they weren't going to have a job, or not much hope for one, once they graduated - because of AI. (Coincidentally, he boasted how he got an entire PAID year off to plan out the AI course, and then presented an unfinished syllabus, and a course roughly designed around Hollywood's interpretation of AI.) Of course, I found plenty of PhD professors who rebuked the very foundation which his teaching stood on. (A button linking my previous blog post with the full video can be found at the bottom of this post.) However, my former Psych professor (author of many frivolous books and proud Joe Rogan guest) never bothered to present the opposing view - at least not in the first few weeks of class (while he was scarring the pants off everyone with their now pointless and costly futures) as I was unable to finish the semester due to his fear of teaching students who were vocal about their gun violence trauma. From his P-Doom podcast - which he offered by way of introduction to the course - to his non-stop fear mongering over AI... the Harvard educated professor of evolutionary and cognitive psychology taught in a manner that was diametrically opposed to all of the foundational psychological understandings of human learning - so that he could push a fear narrative... I guess. But... why? Was it strictly for his own ego? Was it the need to push a societal fear response in folks he saw as prey (not students)? Or was it down to his billionaire ties? I suspect it was a combination of a lot of things. This Dr. of Psychology was working at odds - with ALL of his profession - in order to ram-rod his version of the truth down our throats - and at the tiniest bit of push-back he acted like a scared child about to wet himself. Seriously... he cancelled class and then sent out notices about 'behavior in class' and all because I told him his gratuitous use of gun violence was unnecessary, and triggering to folks with gun violence in their backgrounds (which is a lot of folks here in NM, I imagine), and it was counterproductive to learning. And he basically cried like a baby, and suggested very strongly that I withdraw from HIS class. A class I had already paid for. FEAR BASED EDUCATION UNDULY AFFECTS ABUSE VICTIMS - LIKE ME And a doctor of cognitive psychology would know that... Entitlement is the room manipulators use to cover up their lies and their failings. It pulls the shade down on truth, and allows folks to work in unnatural and artificial realities. School is incredibly expensive, not just in student loans, and their compounding interest, but also in time. And to be forced to drop a class is a major set-back for a poor, disabled, single mom, like me. A doctor of cognitive psychology would know that. But he just had to have his John Wick video on how to train a dog... because it was more important than adjusting to meet the needs of someone who has been abused and traumatized my entire life by men with unnatural amounts of... entitlement. But that all stops now. Upon graduating I will be making a very public statement regarding this professor, his contact with me, and how he made a class that should have been fun, challenging, and enlightening, all about his ego, fear, and control over others. Instead of valuing the dynamics of complex exchange between teacher and student, this man crawled into a shell and then threw cheap Molotov cocktails to keep me at bay. Well... it did not work. There will be conversations - regarding this man's efforts to scare me away from a class I paid for, and also regarding the systems which have placed him... into a position he could FREELY do so. No... my education has cost me WAY TOO MUCH to allow this kind of betrayal to go unchallenged. Until this professor takes full responsibility for his complete lack in educating his students in a manner aligned with his own profession, and makes a full public apology regarding his treatment of me - I will be working to undo the damage he is actively causing. Even if that means eventually sorting out a class-action lawsuit. Teaching via fear... is monstrous. And denying someone their education, an education that costs them FAR MORE THAN OTHERS, is pure evil. And I won't sit back and let it happen to anyone. Not even me.
