Black History We No Longer Teach:

James Armistat
was a black spy who is credited by Lafayette (a great defender of liberty) with ending the American Civil War.

A black man was the hero of The Battle of Bunker Hill - his name was Peter Salem.

Prince Whipple, A black minute man soldier under George Washington was the first black man to receive a higher ed degree.

Blanch Kelso's signature can be found on currency from 1880 - he was the first black man to be nominated for the Vice Presidency.  He also served as a US senator.

The Hoozier State got its nickname after a black man named Harry Hoosier, an evangelist whose converts gathered in Indiana.

Mary Mcleod Bethune started her own school (which grew to over 150 kids) from nothing but ingenuity and determination.  Then she started a hospital and the National Council of Negro Women.  President Franklin Roosevelt named her director of Negro Affairs of the National Youth Administration where she fought to end lynching and discrimination.  Bethune's achievements are so numerous you should probably read about them here: https://www.womenshistory.org/education-resources/biographies/mary-mcleod-bethune

Every racist I've ever known cannot explain to me with facts why it is they believe what they believe.  Every argument they have has been a lie - from the very beginning.

It's time we start calling them out.

Publicly.

*If you are a white person - you have enjoyed privileges your black neighbors and brown neighbors paid for.  It is time  you put your butt on the line for people who have been marginalized while you stood back and reaped the rewards.  Black history - is everyone's history - and we all have a right to learn it.

Namaste,
The Storyteller

    Education
    Matters

Anyone keeping current on both education and the STEM industries will notice that BOTH are at a crossroads in history.

In order to carry on our legacy of exploration and discovery we will need to face the corruption and systematic limits that have held education back for decades.

Kids today are graduating High School without basic math and English skills, despite the fact that most are capable of so much more.

In almost every way education has been set up to limit exceptionalism and to encourage mediocracy, which has placed an unfair burden of boredom and neglect upon our children.

Our children could be graduating High School with complete degrees in a trade or academic field.  The only reason they aren't is because too few people are working to solve the bigger problem.

Our systems aren't designed to work.

It's time to stop staunching the flow of life-force gushing from our educational systems.

It's time to start providing the absolute best opportunities to learn for everyone, so that together we can build a future for all humanity, a future we can be proud of.

Join me here as I cover my own experiences in education and the private work force, and how I think we can totally change education, so that kids can finally set free their full potential.
