Sleaze Land – Chapter 3 (Kick-Backs) Part 2 “You took too much man, too much, too much.” Hunter S. Thompson “Listen ladies, it’s time we come to terms with the fact that these men are not our friends, and they are certainly not on our teammates. Teammates take equal risks, gain equal rewards. And none of that has been happening here, not in all this time - as all these men have enjoyed their little kick-backs.” Emma paced across the large well-lit stage, all the while examining the large crowd of women that had gathered to hear her speak. “Despite everything they’ve said, these men definitely do not have our backs. And they never once did. Because ladies, we didn’t get here by accident. We got here because they played ball and thought they could leave us out of it - entirely.” “Yeah, leave us out, while at the same time expecting us to give up our careers in order to raise their goodman kids!” one of the wives chimed in from the crowd. “Not to mention stroke their fragile egos!” another woman hollered from somewhere in the middle. “Exactly,” Emma replied, her expression an unyielding mask of determination. “The numbers don’t lie. While they’ve raked in fortunes, we’ve all barely scraped by. And while we’ve all been busy calling them ‘King’, and ‘Hero’, they’ve been tearing us apart. Quite literally. From the words they choose, to the parts they play. Why, for the past sixty-years they’ve been telling us how they’re our only chance at survival – that THEY are our saviors – and at best, all we can hope for is to be thrown a bit charity – every now and again.” Emma paced across the stage, and then looked into the darkness of the large crowd that was a hundred strong, at least. “For the past sixty-years they’ve painted us as the weak victims of a world only they can best. But I’m here to tell you, it’s a lie. It’s a goddamn sham. And nothing they have to offer is worth the price we’ve been asked to pay – time and time again – while they sat back, and basked in all that glory.” Emma’s voice had gained in both pitch and volume, as she spoke to the women that had funded her mission; her Sleaze Trial mission, to finally bring some justice to the putrefied world of Hollywood. And the crowd responded by bursting into wild applause the second she stopped speaking. With a raised hand, Emma brought them all back under control. “But if we don’t do this. If we back out now, or God forbid – if we fail – then nothing will ever change. And we’ll all go back to having our lives painted over in trash by the lecherous men of Hollywood, with their casting couch cullings, and their perpetual disdain for all things feminine. We’ll go back to them tearing us apart – until finally, there’ll be nothing left that resembles who and what we really are!” For a short, plump woman, Emma sure could project a powerful force when she wanted to. And just then there was nothing in the world she wanted more. “So… are we going to let that happen? Are we going to let these morally bankrupt men drag us back into the dark ages? Are we going to continue to let them dictate what happens to our bodies?” “No! No! No!” Came the replies from the crowd, each yelled with a force and magnitude that was magnified by the large group of royally pissed off women. “Are we going to let them sell our bodies and our stories?” “No!” “Are we going to let them tell rape stories that only men benefit from?” “No!” “Are we going to let them continue to normalize sexual assault?” “Hell No!” The crowd was practically frothing at the mouth. But then again, who could blame them, when more than half had already been victimized themselves, and the other half loved someone who had been. “We have been given this one moment in time to take the reins, ladies. To take back control. To tell the world that we are important, and that we matter too. So… are we going to take it? Are we going to take this opportunity to take back our lives?” “Hell yes!!!” the crowd answered, and then burst into applause, as Emma Jorgenson smiled, the smile of vengeance nearly at hand. "What we're seeing now is that greed is still alive and kicking, and banks are bigger than ever."
