Moses lifting up his wand, and dividing the Red Sea, and Pharaoh in his chariot overwhelmed with the waters. This motto: ‘Rebellion to tyrants is obedience to God.’ Exploring the spirituality of notable thinkers is helpful in finding our own path to spirituality. Here are some of Benjamin Franklin's thoughts on prayer and spirituality as noted in his autobiography. "I have been religiously educated as a Presbyterian; and … I was never without religious principles. I never doubted, for instance, the existence of the Deity; that he made the world, and governed it by his Providence; that the most acceptable service of God was the doing good to man; that our souls are immortal; and that all crime will be punished, and virtue reward, either here or hereafter." "These I esteemed the essentials of every religion; and, being to be found in all the religions we had in our country, I respected them all, though with different degrees of respect, as I found them more or less mixed with other articles, which without any tendency to inspire, promote, or confirm morality, served principally to divide us, and made us unfriendly on one another." "This respect of all…induced me to avoid all discourse that might tend to lessen the good opinion another might have of his own religion; and as our province increased in people, and new places of worship were continually wanted, and generally erected by voluntary contribution, my mite for such purpose, whatever might be the sect, was never refused." "Though I seldom attended any public worship, I had still an opinion of its propriety, and of its utility when rightly conducted, and I regularly paid my annual subscription for the support of the only Presbyterian minister or meeting we had in Philadelphia. He used to visit me sometimes as a friend, and admonish me to attend his administration." His version of the Lord's Payer: "Heavenly Father, may all revere thee, and become thy dutiful Children and faithful Subjects; may thy Laws be obeyed on Earth as perfectly as they are in Heaven: Provide for us this Day as thou hast hitherto daily done: Forgive us our Trespasses, and enable us likewise to forgive those that offend us. Keep us out of Temptation, and deliver us from Evil." It is helpful for me, in my spiritual practice, to note great thinkers of the past who were of such an open mind when it comes to the depths of God, and his intentions for mankind. I hope his words are of service. May the love of creation always shine brightly within you. Namaste Source: https://slife.org/prayers-of-benjamin-franklin

For a very long time I was angry. Oh boy, was I angry. Still am a bit, like when you get a bit of popcorn stuck in your teeth. You know the snack is over, but the taste remains. I was so angry for so long. Because my life has been hard. I'll go into that later, in other areas, but for now, suffice it to say - I was ticked off because I couldn't find a point to any of it - like, at all. Well, I finally have. At least enough of one to feel as though most things have been set right in my life. Suddenly everything has been made infinitely easier, even though none of the actual details of my life have changed. Just my perspective. And oh boy, was that enough. So, now, I offer this site to you as a place to come to hopefully let go of some of your anger, and to find some fun, maybe even useful information. That's my intention anyway. I hope you will check back often, as I update frequently. Namaste |
