"The fact that millions of people share the same vices does not make these vices virtues, the fact that they share so many errors does not make the errors to be truths, and the fact that millions of people share the same forms of mental pathology does not make these people sane."

Eric Fromm

By all rational standards I am quite insane.  For the simple fact that I fundamentally reject most of society's norms, and live a life based entirely on an outside reality.  One based on my relationship to God, nature, my family, and my own human needs.

What are basic human needs?  Most people probably don't even think about it.  But let's... shall we?

Physiological needs include: food, shelter, water, clothes, and all of the other things our bodies require - or we'll die.

Psychological needs include: love, purpose, self-expression, acceptance, safety, and security - all of the things we need in order not to psychologically die.

But what happens when these needs are only partially met?

If your physiological needs are only partially met - you develop imbalances, deficiencies, and typically suffer from ill health and a shortened lifespan.

If your psychological needs are only partially met - you develop psychosis, neurosis, and other bizarre coping mechanisms.

However, to me, the most devastating part of our seriously imbalanced society are all the folks walking around thinking they are perfectly happy and adjusted, BECAUSE they have adapted to an imbalanced society - which treats negative coping mechanisms (such as greed and selfishness) as virtues.

Right now, globally, we live in a society where greed (a quality which is not conducive to a healthy human experience) is treated as a sign of nobility.  Just ask Keanu Reeves or Elon Musk.

While children starve and mothers go without basic healthcare these high-ranking men in our society further fatten their livers upon greedy and selfish behaviors.  Despite the fact we have witnessed what such self-serving attitudes have done to others (Matthew Perry is a prime example).  Despite knowing that their disproportionate wealth is destroying lives (by further devaluing other's individual contributions) they are touted as being prime examples of being men in our society.

Despite the fact they hold NONE of the traditional male qualities we have for thousands of years looked up to:  such as providing for family (emotionally, spiritually, and physically - not just financially).

Despite the fact neither Elon nor Keanu have had to sacrifice anything, and both live lives of extreme luxury and undisciplined consumption - they are the folks we as a society have held up for our children to emulate.

This is insanity - if you ask me.

Elon's X Crop. is allowing folks to be attacked, harassed, and openly preyed upon - in the worst ways ever - and has made zero attempts to correct this very negatively aligned direction.

Yet, his Neurolink company contends it only has humanity's best interests at heart.  And the collectively insane applaud.

Keanu makes movie after movie depicting apathetic violence, killings which demonstrate zero natural consequences, and glorifies the heartless murderers in all of us.

And yet... people say he's a really good guy.  Despite the fact he's never publicly spoken out about the rampant gun violence in our society (especially to those most negatively impacted by his violence indoctrinating movies).

We have taken values - which diminish humanity as a whole - and turned them into qualities we admire and flout.

I'd rather be insane.

I'd rather know what evil is (self-service to the point others are harmed).  I'd rather know the men around me as evil - if evil are their deeds - than pretend a moment longer they have virtues I can (or humanity can) positively align with.

The truth is - they don't.  Elon Musk, Keanu Reeves, Donald Trump, Joe Biden... all lack qualities which I would want to see in my children or grandchildren.  Therefore, I will act out against these social norms, I will continue being called 'crazy' and I will continue reveling in it.

Because I care more about what my actions are actually doing to those around me, than what my pretend image seems to suggest.

Call me crazy.  But I prefer life over death.  Truth over lies.  And people of value over greedy selfish assholes.

Can you imagine the horrors of pretending to be someone you're not - just so you can appear happy?

"Whether or not the individual is healthy, is primarily not an individual matter, but depends on the structure of his society. A healthy society furthers man's capacity to love his fellow men, to work creatively, to develop his reason and objectivity, to have a sense of self which is based on the experience of his own productive powers."
