of celestial sighs
those delicate samurai
born of the skies
come at long last
to demystify
what can no longer be sanctified

come to mummify the buy-and-buy
of them so-called dignified
wise guys
still using time to justify
the Treaty of Versailles

vainglory itself edified
by that double eyed
butterfly

come once again to spy
on this unholy playpen
where urchins barter
for stolen whens
our shallow men

Those mercurial wren
made less
by their own hand

planned and banned
this free-for-all grandstand
across the heartland

and everyone...
well, everyone's just waiting
on a command
while impotently hoping
on a someday
dreamland

that bit of sand
on which
to make their stand...

Like it's not quicksand
up to their waistband

The Treaty of Sighs
has been signed
once again

the delegation sent

due now
is the rent

along with recompense for every truth
bent
every shred
of torment
however well-meant

For the Season of Discontent
is upon us
that quiver of malcontent
that supplement
erected
to aid our collective ascent

your desert child
cold and uncut
raw and untamed
tho shee be maimed

inflamed and falsely blamed
misnamed
and ill-famed
yet somehow righteously
still self-proclaimed
forever unashamed

unabashed
this lass...

gassed, whiplashed, and trashed

a desert cache
that backlash
of mountain ash
that well rehearsed
heat rash

that ain't never going away
your lil blue-jay

shee is that downplayed doomsday
standing in your goddamn doorway

that forever cliche
crowning clowns
in their ever-rancid
circlets of decay

that dragon
you forever feared
would enter this foray
come for a lil horseplay

that gourmet repay

served up like a goddamn g'day souffle
from hell

that southern bell
fairy blood
turned into a potent inkwell
to cast this spell

that long
and ever-lasting
farewell

call it your own personal
Banshee knell.
