The Tyranny of Famous Men

The tyranny
of famous men
has been made absolute

thru their silent indifference
to brutality
justified by their celebrated
pursuit

and by their never-ending
taste
for all things debased

have they reduced our contributions
to the placated fantasies
of yester-year
voices few
if any
will ever now hear

A much-too-much used
punch-line
made sacrifice
upon a
misogynistic shrine

of Hollywood fame.

A stolen trophy
for winning the game
of mastering the art of neglect
of conquering those
they pretend
to protect

Yet... tyrants will always fall
just as a pendulum
will always swing

just as a
trapped canary
will always sing

when death finally comes
to call
