land acknowledgement

I stand on the lands of the Tiwa, Tewa, Diné, and N’de peoples.

It is because of genocide and colonization that I do so.

Therefore, it is my responsibility to work against the historical erasure of the Indigenous peoples whose ancestors have resided here since time immemorial.

These proud and noble people have deep connections to the land I currently occupy, and I would very much like to convey the honor and respect I hold for them and their heritage.

As a temporary steward of this land I hope to at least do no harm.  But hopefully through my continued acknowledgment and meaningful conversations about accountable relationships and informed actions I can pay back a little of what has been given.

It is only a first step.

With respect, I hope and pray some day for full Indigenous sovereignty.

May Indigenous Peoples thrive in this place - alive and strong - for the rest of time.

Sincerely,
